Basra Airline Lost Baggage Policy

We take great care to ensure your baggage arrives safely and on time at your destination. However, despite our careful efforts, baggage loss may occur for various reasons. If your baggage is lost, you can contact the Basra Airline Lost and Found office or the ground handling company at your arrival airport. When you submit your claim at the airport or online, you will receive a unique reference number (PIR / Baggage Incident Report number) for your lost baggage. The application procedures to follow in case of lost baggage are explained below.

If your baggage has not arrived, you can apply while still at the airport. Please visit the Basra Airline Lost and Found office or the relevant ground handling company and complete the application form using your boarding pass and baggage tag numbers. A lost baggage report will be created, and you will be assigned a report number.

If you leave the airport without reporting your lost baggage to the Lost and Found office, you can apply online by filling out the baggage tracking form. After submitting the form, you can track the status of your lost baggage online.

For the first five days after your arrival, your baggage is tracked along your flight route using International Baggage Search Systems. Lost baggage is generally located within 24 hours and returned to passengers as soon as possible. However, delivery time may rarely be extended due to operational reasons. To conduct a thorough investigation of unidentified lost baggage, a detailed list of items and their values inside the baggage will be requested within five days. If this information is not provided, a new notification may be generated through the baggage disruption notification and tracking system. Documents can be attached to the new notification or a message with details such as color, brand, size, and contents can be sent to facilitate faster detection and delivery. Our relevant departments will conduct a comprehensive investigation of lost baggage for up to 21 days based on the information and documents provided.

  • To file a claim for lost baggage, you must present the baggage tag issued to you. Therefore, ensure that the name tag attached to your luggage at check-in is fully completed and securely fastened.
  • Keep your baggage tag and boarding pass until you have received your baggage, as they may be required for further processing.
  • Extensive research is conducted to identify bags appearing untagged in our system due to missing baggage tags; however, financial compensation cannot be assessed without a baggage tag.
  • You must submit and keep a report to ensure proper investigation or continuation of the process if your baggage cannot be found, enabling compensation for damages.
  • When handing over your baggage at check-in, make sure to receive a copy of your baggage tag.
  • Passengers leaving the airport without retrieving their baggage will be held responsible for any resulting financial losses.
  • If your last flight was not with Basra Airline, you must submit your claim to the airline you traveled with.
  • If your baggage was in lost status for an extended period and delivered late, or if it arrived damaged or with missing contents, you may submit a written application to Basra Airline within seven days of baggage receipt, using your previously assigned report number.
